A new effort to allow for the building of affordable housing in form of ADU’s (Accessory dwelling Units) and additional funding to Project Home Key; giving homeless a sponsored grant to stay in Hotels 🏨 for over 30 days is now law by the signing of Assembly Bill (AB 2835). The sunset date of tenancy rules has been removed, making it easier for service providers to place people experiencing homelessness into privately owned hotels and motels for more than 30 days. #HomelessnessHelp #EqualAccessToHotels 🌴🌍.
Since the year 2019, the state has invested a total of over $27 billion to assist local governments in providing services and housing, with a particular emphasis on preventing and combating homelessness. This includes investments of 3.3 billion for Homekey or rapid rehousing/shelter diversion, 1 billion allocated for encampment resolution funding, which provides relocation assistance to the homeless through street outreach and shelter abatement. Furthermore, this fund is used to keep neighborhoods safer by assisting the homeless through street outreach and other initiatives.
Additionally, 4.85 billion is allocated for Homeless Assistance to provide more affordable housing options for individuals on fixed incomes and those awaiting the never-ending wait of section 8 and other rental subsidy assistance. #AffordableHousing #help homelessness 🌎🏠💰
With the help of local community based organizations, they can now petition grants and community block funding to establish programs that will serve local homeless families and individuals, hopefully taming the housing crisis beast. 💪🏠🌆 #HousingCrisis #CommunitySupport
