On another vehicle inspection outing, enjoying the benefit of purchasing a maintenance plan for our Chevy. It was by chance of habistance that I happened to notice on our way into town that there were strike signs outside another auto dealership. Now that baffled me; given that the UAW strike for better wages ended last year 2023.
It was also kind of funny to see these highly paid engineers as they call mechanics today; asking for better compensation when entry level at dealerships start at 25$ an hour. Then depending on the kind of dealership the pay and benefits go up. 🤔This was outside a Masseratti 🚗 dealership that has been in business for decades and in the middle of an auto parkway of car dealers. Therefore, I can only hypothesize that their pay is much higher than entry level. These guys must be making close to 70k a year not counting overtime, and even though that is only a fraction of the dealerships annual sales. You gotta wonder what their major complaint is [Whats the major malfunction?]. I understand that the cost of living has increased and inflation has affected all of us. Nevertheless these highly and in my opinion overpaid mechanics that run your bill up to thousands of dollars for what seems to be regular maintenance are complaining that there wages are not sufficient to survive in todays econonmy. 😒
Ofcourse, being the inquisitive person that I am. I quickly jumped 🌏 online to research what would cause a group of well paid workers 👷♀️ to become irrate and then so much so to throw shame on their employer because of their work environment. Unfortunately, their plight had not made the news and I almost went back to ask them what their reason for striking was. I am going to continue to follow local news and maybe something will appear.
