Write about your first computer.
Computers were the growing fad and game stations had really reached a plateau of what was being done. The next best game was on the home PC.
My brother used to spend hours in his room, religiously hacking away at computers 💻. He had a 4 ft high stack of PC magazines 📚, copying code to build his own games 🎮. This fascinated me because it meant he wasn’t limited by allowance to buy video games, nor did he have to wait for new releases to play something new! 🤩 #BigBrother #Computers #PCMagazines #Code
He would chill in his room door closed and typing into this machine that I had no idea what it could do. When I was given my first PC it came with 1 game already installed. It was a flight simulator.
Learning to use a PC back then was super technical. There weren’t any online courses you could take, and no “PC for Dummies” books at the library. We were in Mexico, so not many info sources to learn from. Schools weren’t even teaching it, so I had to do all the research myself. My brother was older and in the Navy by then, so he was out of the house and couldn’t help me learn, but he had already been an inspiration and had already opened that doorway leading outwards towards the digital highway 🛣.
I was on my own to explore the vast world of gigabit storage and DOS commands.
