Breaking of the waves into the ends of the canal,
the once calm waters were filled with uncertainty.
The waves had seemed trained to the inlet,
to the source, the ocean, to another.
Each motion in the puddle calling up
an answer from the outside.
What had once been a station, awaiting requests,
was now filled with answers — a still bluff
meeting the trembling waters.
The body of the land had revealed itself,
powerful enough to stir up the waters.
